Wine me, Dine me!

I was fortunate enough this year to be able to enjoy the Epcot Food and Wine Festival with my best friend and NO KIDS!  You heard it right folks.  No kids.  Mom's weekend.  Lots of wine with very little whine.  It was lovely. That's all, blog done.

Psych, I talk way too much to just end like that.  We showed up at Epcot bright and early and ready to nosh!  As you can see from my outfit above...baggy shirt and biker shorts...I came ready to eat.  Alright but first things first...don't go to Epcot too early.  Nothing opened until 11.  So we waited around for 2 hours before any of the booths opened.  At least we had our Starbucks to tide us over.

The first stop we made was the Cheese Studio.  The braised beef stroganoff and the malbec were our picks and boy were they good ones!  Tip: this stand actually opens as early as 10:30, along with the Chocolate Studio.  And as much as I wanted to try the Chocolate Studio, chocolate desserts did not sound good with 90 degree weather plus humidity.  No thank you very much.  But stroganoff and wine for breakfast was an excellent choice.

Next stop was the Wine and Dine studio with this butternut squash ravioli with the Rainstorm Silver Linings Pinot Noir Rose.  This was BY FAR my favorite thing I had that day.  I want to re-create these ravioli and shove them in my mouth on a daily basis.  This is a MUST try.

Now at this point, being that this was a Mom's trip, we needed to get a little bit more "Mom-ish" beverages in our lives. Enter the Shimmering Sips booth with their Mimomsa flight!  BUT...and I hate to say this...this was a TOTAL LET DOWN.  Yes it's all in caps because I was sad and depressed and disappointed in the outcome.  These barely had any sparkling wine in them and we were mainly drinking breakfast juices.  A big ol' sad whomp-whomp on this booth.

We also had Pao de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) and Frozen Caipirinha fromBrazil, Lobster Roll and Rose hard Cider from Hops and Barley, a Limoncello Margarita from Italy, and the Cheddar and bacon soup and Filet from Canada.  Where these pictures are I'll never know, lol.  But after all that...we definitely needed to give our bellies a break.  So we went to Oga's Cantina for drinks in Hollywood Studios.  Liquid snacks can be the best kind of snacks.

Cast Member photo bombs make my day.
After taking a break from stuffing our faces, we came back later that night to do it all over again!  Coastal Eats and Active Eats were the booths of choice.  We had the Mac and Cheese, Key Lime hard water, lump crab cake, and the baked shrimp and scallop scampi dip.  Everything was fantastic.  This was a bit hard to finish, given the amount we ate during the rest of the day..but definitely a fantastic way to end the night.  I also need to find that key lime hard water out in the wild because I could drink that every night of the week.

I'm so glad I got to experience this festival with my best friend who loves to eat, drink and be Disney as much as I do.  This was one of the best trips that I have ever taken and quite possibly the most I have ever eaten in a single day.  I would love to visit this festival once more this year to hang out in cooler weather (HA wishful thinking, it's Florida) and try more things that I didn't get to this time around.  If you haven't ever been to Food and Wine at Epcot, please make it one of your top trips to take.  It will be worth it..even if it puts a couple extra notches in your belt!

If you'd like to find out more about the Food and Wine festival food offerings, a great resource is the Disney Food Blog.  They have all the booths, food and drink offerings, merch, pictures and pricing.  It's a great resource when planning your trip!
