It's September so you know what that means! Halloween is in full swing! I know people hate that holidays start earlier and earlier but honestly...this is one that can start right after the 4th of July in my opinion. On my most recent jaunt to WDW I was able to experience Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party for the first time! I LOOOOOVVVEE Halloweentime in Disneyland so was really excited to see how WDW does it up!
As per my previous blog post, Nicole and I went on a mom's weekend trip, and what better way to celebrate no kids than to dress up and go to a Halloween party where you get to trick or treat for free candy, eat delicious desserts, and meet and mingle with characters! Totally adult only fun time.

If Maleficent and Sally had a night on the town |
One of my favorite things, was even though people are dressed in costume TO THE NINE'S for this party...our sequin dresses were getting quite alot of attention. We started getting the feeling that people thought we were actual ladies of the night. Um...no. These were actually perfect costumes for us because we are usually ladies who like to go to bed at 8 pm...so these took us way out of our comfort zones. You're supposed to dress up and pretend to be something else on Halloween right? We pretended we were fancy broads.
I wanted to experience all the special party things so rides weren't really on my list of things to do, but I dragged Nicole on the People Mover because there was ZERO line and I just couldn't resist. She was salty about it...but this is how we balance each other out.
We kept trying to meet up with Jack and Sally but every time we went to go see them there was an hour long wait. Yes we love pictures. Yes we love a good character meet and greet. But ain't no one got time for that, especially at a specially ticketed paid event. So we searched out our own photo ops...even if that meant accosting George on the dance floor

FUN FACT: I almost knocked this prop over and ruined this photo spot for everyone. DO NOT LEAN ON THE PHOTO PROP. |
And OF COURSE we had to try some of the goodies. The pumpkin pie shake was a winner. We both loved it....but milkshakes in Florida. I don't know how you Floridians do it. I could feel the dairy curdling in my stomach in the 90 degree heat. BUT....It sure was tasty the few sips I could get in.
We tried to get in the parades and the castle show because....Hocus Pocus...but it didn't end up panning out for us. Tell me this hasn't happened to y'all at least once: you find a good spot for the show about 30 minutes before. No one is around, lots of good space, it's glorious and you feel like you've won Disneyworld. Then about 2 minutes before the show, everyone decides to crowd next to you, the tallest people stand in front of you because there was 5 inches of space, people behind you start pushing into you and shoving their children in front of you, and all of a sudden it feels 25 degress hotter, you get angrier, and the show becomes sub par because you can only see the top have of the castle because people are throwing their children on their shoulders in front of you. Now imagine THAT in 90 degree weather at 9 pm, in a sequin dress, with half a pumpkin pie milkshake fermenting in your stomach with three Tito's Mojitos from Trader Sams.... what happens then?
That's right....a trip to the nurse's station.
This one almost fainted and can you believe she FELT BAD that I was missing out. Girl...I cannot, and refuse to, carry you throughout the Magic Kingdom, so I'd rather spend 45 minutes in the air conditioned nurses station drinking ice water and laughing it up with the amazing nursing staff there then trying to go stand an hour in line to see Jack and Sally and have you faint in the middle of it. The good news was...when we were done Nicole felt 100% better, bought a horrid shorts and shirt outfit to change into (thank you, Disney, for allowing her to return it later for something she ACTUALLY wanted), and I got to take one of my most favorite photopass pics I've ever taken.

This is my most favorite picture I've ever taken. I just love everything about it. Including my face. |
I don't know why I love this picture so much, but I just feel elegant and pretty and my face is all glowing and I'm looking at this ghost like he's the love of my life. Love you, Boo.
So my first MNSSHP was definitely an eventful one! I thought it was a fun experience and would love to do it again in a more comfortable costume and a plan. I am hoping to try out the Christmas Party this year too and see which one I like better. I just love Halloween in the parks and general so for sure don't count this party out, just make sure you are hydrated, have patience, and know exactly where the nurses office is in case of emergencies.
